Graduate Programs
Graduate programs at the °µÍø¸£Àûapp College of Education and Human Development combine rigorous coursework and rich field experiences to nurture the skills and knowledge needed to help students address the challenges facing PK-12 education. Other programs are geared toward students pursuing careers in university settings and at agencies that serve children and families. Our outstanding faculty have a wealth of research and practical experience, and have supported previous students to become well-versed in areas such as social and emotional learning, educational leadership and policy, and practices to promote diversity, equity and inclusion.

Areas of Specialization- Special Education (Ph.D. program designed to prepare educators for leadership positions in both K-12 schools and higher education institutions, where they can contribute to special education teacher preparation and address a nationwide shortage of special educators)
- Higher Education (Ph.D. or Ed.D. program designed for mid-career professionals with the theoretical and practical frameworks to understand colleges and universities as complex organizations)
- Literacy Education (Ph.D. program focused on theoretical research traditions, historical perspectives, and diverse epistemologies and methodologies that frame the study of literacy in varied settings, with emphasis on the distinct needs of rural areas)
- Prevention & Intervention Studies (Not accepting applications at this time. Ph.D. program for educators interested in increasing positive academic and social-behavioral outcomes for PreK-12 children and their families by focusing on issues related to risk, resilience, prevention and intervention.)
